FOSSILIZED IVORY FETISH NECKLACE
Beautifully carved fossilized ivory fetish necklace by Navajo artist L. Benally. The follisilized walrus ivory is 500-10,000 years old!! and is from the remote village of the St Lawrence Islance. The color comes from centuries of being buried in the frozen tundra, and harvested in the summer months by the local Native Eskimos. There are 83 individually carved fetishes from fish, turtles, whales, bears, wolves, armadillos and birds. The smaller carvings are about 1" and the large bear at the bottom is 1 1/2" tall. Length is 16" from back of neck to bottom of bear (31" total lenght). Truly an amazing piece of art. Florida residents please add sales tax.
